Literary Arena

One of the most talked about and successful aspects of Latitude last year was the Literature Tent. The cosy ‘library’ with its over-sized book by the entrance enticed passers-by into the hub of laughter and discussion inside. Many who popped in for a quick break from the sun found themselves leaving many hours later, lost in the flights of fancy and comic genius of these book readings with a difference.

BOOK CLUB

Last year's Book Club, in the Literary Arena, featured some of the most interesting moments of the festival, including  Robin's funny, yet romantic reading of favourite Mills and Boon novels. Robin Ince brilliantly hosted the Book club, adding that touch of humour to an already fascinating bill.

Thank you so much for your suggestions for the Book Club. We've decided to go with So Many Ways to Begin by Jon McGregor.

Jon McGregor's 2002 debut, If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things, was one of the most accelerated literary success stories of recent years; it propelled the then 26-year-old from a dishwashing job in Nottingham to the Booker longlist in the space of a few months. We'd love to hear what you think of his latest novel in which a museum curator finds joy in the everyday.

Publishers Bloomsbury have promised books as prizes for the reviews that we print in the newsletter. Happy reading and please email tania@meanfiddler.co.uk with your reviews.
